Improving Smiles in Saratoga Springs with Porcelain Veneers, Tooth Whitening, and Invisalign® - Also Serving Albany

The cosmetic dentistry procedures that we provide in our Saratoga Springs-area office range from subtle tooth whitening to beautiful porcelain veneers to treatments with even more dramatic results. Dedicated to improving the health and appearance of your teeth, we stay current with all the latest and greatest treatments that modern dentistry has to offer, including a line of “invisible braces” called invisalign®. We also educate our patients in Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga Springs about the many tooth whitening procedures on the market. The benefits of porcelain veneers over dental bonding and dental crowns is another topic we discuss with those who’d like to explore their cosmetic dentistry options.

If you would like to discuss the benefits of invisalign® at our Albany-area office, or simply learn more about any of the procedures described here, please call our Schenectady County cosmetic dentistry office to schedule a consultation.

Treatment Highlights Porcelain Veneers

If you aren’t happy with your smile and you reside near Saratoga Springs, porcelain veneers applied by Dr. Oyangen could be the perfect fix for your dental problem. These thin shells of dental ceramic are bonded to the surface of your teeth during a quick procedure at our office. Porcelain veneers are a more conservative alternative to dental crowns because we don’t have to remove much of the tooth's original surface to attach them. Plus, the tooth-to-veneer adhesion is strong enough that patients can look forward to having straighter, whiter teeth that they can treat just like their natural ones.

Though veneers can be made of different materials, Dr. Oyangen favors porcelain veneers because the translucent surface looks surprisingly authentic. Porcelain veneers absorb and reflect light in much the same way that natural teeth do, so the veneered teeth look nearly indistinguishable from the surrounding teeth. The smooth surface also makes them nearly impervious to further discoloration (whereas natural teeth have microscopic pits and crevices that tend to collect stain-inducing material).

Tooth Whitening

Regardless of how diligently you take care of your pearly whites, some discoloration will inevitably occur over time. There are, however, a number of ways to return your smile to its original dazzling state. Whether you brighten your smile at home or in our office near Saratoga Springs, tooth whitening definitely turns back the clock. How? Tooth whitening reverses the ravages of coffee, tea, cola, red wine, and tobacco – as well as the gradual color change brought on by aging.

We advise our patients that tooth whitening can be performed either as an at-home, dentist-supervised process or in the dentist's chair. While neither of these methods stops future discoloration, both types of treatment bring about whiter teeth and help create a brighter smile. If you choose the at-home option, you’ll receive individualized instruction on how to administer your tooth whitening solution. We’ll make a cast of your teeth and use that to create a customized mouth tray that fits comfortably in your mouth. The tray will hold a mild solution of carbamide peroxide against the teeth, releasing a non-toxic bleaching agent.

Contact our Saratoga Springs-area cosmetic dentistry office if tooth whitening sounds like the answer to your cosmetic dentistry needs.

Invisalign®

Sometimes referred to as “invisible braces,” the invisalign® system available at our Albany-area practice involves a series of clear plastic mouth guards that fit over misaligned teeth to progressively straighten them. Providing an effective alterative to traditional metal braces, the custom-made mouth guards – called aligners – have the added advantage of being discreet, which is why invisalign® appeals to our patients who want straight teeth and a beautiful smile without ever having to bother with traditional orthodontia.

If your teeth have slight to moderate crowding or spacing problems, then you’re a prime candidate for this innovative procedure. We invite you to schedule an appointment with the experienced invisalign® doctor at our practice. If Dr. Oyangen determines that invisalign® is right for, you’ll begin the first stage of the process: having photos taken and impressions of your teeth made. Using advanced computer technology, we can use this information to produce a 3-D digital model of your teeth, to simulate the movement of your teeth during treatment, and then to build precise molds for your set of aligners (12 to 48 mouthpieces, depending on your needs) shaped to ease your teeth into the optimal position. You’ll wear each aligner for approximately two weeks, and you’ll be able to remove them to eat, drink, and brush your teeth – a major advantage that invisalign® has over braces.

Serving Albany, Saratoga Springs, and the entire Capitol District, we look forward to helping you explore your invisalign® options. Contact our Schenectady County cosmetic dentistry experts for more information on invisalign®.

Dental Bonding

Used to improve the outward appearance of teeth, bonding is a process in which a resin or plastic composite material is bonded onto an existing tooth. An ideal remedy for cracked or chipped teeth, bonding hides discoloration and reduces small spaces between teeth. Whatever its purpose, composite bonding can significantly alter a smile – or simply make it brighter and more youthful. And unlike veneers or crowns, this procedure requires minimal (if any) removal of the existing tooth.

All-Ceramic Crowns and Bridges

We can replace your old silver crowns with beautiful life-like all-ceramic crowns that are bonded in place, not cemented. With all-ceramic crowns, there is no discomfort caused by temperature transfer via metal framework. The all-ceramic pieces are more natural looking (without the telltale grey lines of metal-backed bridges, for example). Another advantage is that the material is kinder to surrounding gum tissue allowing them to be healthier and less sensitive.

Gum Reshaping

We can use a Waterlase® dental laser to painlessly remove red and swollen gum tissue, or to treat patients who are dissatisfied with their smile’s gum-to-teeth ratio. Because the procedure doesn’t require the use of scalpels or drills, we are able to balance out irregular-height gum tissue with little or no bleeding. Waterlase® does not produce heat as does other lasers, so patients heal in a third of the time.

Contact our office near Saratoga Springs for more information on porcelain veneers, tooth whitening and invisalign®. We also serve the Albany area.

Implants

Implants are titanium cylinders placed into healthy bone and allow teeth, bridges or dentures to be anchored. Implants will never corrode, or get cavities, or become sensitive to hot or cold like real teeth. Dr. Oyangen has been trained to place and restore numerous systems especially Nobel Biocare and Branemark (the best known worldwide).

Root Canals

Our primary objective is to save teeth. We will perform root canal procedures on all teeth that are worth saving. We follow one of three techniques to clean, dissinfect, and fill roots of infected teeth.

Extractions

When teeth connot be saved, we follow a traumatic removal techniques. Every effort is made to have complete anesthesia and reduce soft tissue damage. This reduces post operative swelling and pain. When important, we will place bone grafting substances to preserve bone and ridges. This reduces pain and shrinkage of gums and bone allowing better cosmetic results.
